More secure and proactive safety checks in Google Chrome
From now onwards, safety check on Google Chrome will run automatically in the background and now the users will get instantly alerted if the passwords that were saved in Chrome have been compromised, malicious websites or extensions are present, if you are not using latest version of Chrome or if the website permission needs your attention.
These alerts will appear in the three-dot menu in Chrome so that you can take immediate action to handle the situation and maintain safety.
Google is also extending its safety check to revoke the site’s permissions – like access to your location or microphone, if those websites have not been used for a long period of time.
From now onwards Google will also check if you are getting too many notifications from a website that you are not often using and will let you know about those websites so that you can disable them.
Smarter and efficient performance controls
Last year, Google introduced performance controls like Memory Saver mode to help Chrome run even more smoothly on the desktop. They have recently added more details about your cards’ memory usage when you hover over them in memory saver mode, including the potential memory saved when they become inactive. And they have simplified the specification of sites that should always remain active.
To set the memory saver mode, go to the Performance section in the settings and turn on the memory saver.
Saved tab groups
Tab groups are a useful way to clean up and organize your tabs in Chrome, especially if you’re browsing, say, giveaways from different sites. Google will be rolling out to Chrome for desktop over the next few weeks, and you’ll be able to save groups of cards so you can access them on other desktop devices and easily back up your projects. So, this is a very beneficial feature by Google for the users.
Google has officially said that they will be bringing smarter and more beneficial features to chrome which will be powered by their new AI model Gemini.
